The United States Department of Health and Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has awarded IQ Solutions, Inc. a $9 million contract to prepare states, territories, federally recognized tribes and local entities to deliver effective behavioral health preparedness for and response to disasters.

The contract will reside in the Emergency Mental Health and Traumatic Stress Services Branch within the Division of Prevention, Traumatic Stress and Special Programs of SAMHSA’s Center for Mental Health Services. SAMHSA’s Disaster Technical Assistance Center (DTAC) supports collaborations between mental health and substance abuse authorities, presidential initiatives, federal agencies, nongovernmental organizations, colleges/universities and experts in the field to facilitate the sharing of information, best practices and emerging issues. It is anticipated that SAMHSA and SAMHSA DTAC will support a number of key federal agencies, goals and objectives in preparedness, response and recovery in the disaster behavioral health field. On this contract, IQ Solutions will partner with ESI, a technical assistance, communications, logistics and information technology (IT) services provider supporting federal clients in the areas of health and education.

SAMHSA PEP services more than 25 million customer touch points annually through decision support and reporting; a 24/7/365 contact center; a materials warehousing, fulfillment and reproduction center; web and IT services, including the SAMHSA Store; and marketing, promotion and partnership development services. Earlier this year, IQ Solutions developed and launched the SAMHSA Behavioral Health Disaster Response App, which provides critical, real-time resources to responders addressing the behavioral health needs of disaster survivors. To date, this app has been downloaded more than 8,000 times.
